Finals

Oh man! Getting ready for finals is such a time consumer and big time stress causer. I am so ready for our semester finals to be over with and summer to come. I have three online finals and two classroom finals. I hope that i do good on all of them because I need a good GPA for my classes to transfer to Tech for the fall.

Birthday

My birthday is April 29th, which is this coming Thursday. I will be 19 years old. I am so excited to get to spend a nice dinner with my family and enjoy the company of my friends on my birthday. Not only am i excited about getting presents from my family but I am also looking forward to recieving lots of love from the people who care about me.

rain

It has been raining all week. This weather just is so gloomy and makes me want to be lazy all day long and stay in bed until it is sunny again. The rain is flooding the streets and the campus and making big puddles of mud that gets tracked in and around the halls of the dorms. I would much rather it be sunny than rainy because this weather just drains me.

Easter

Easter is one of the best holidays ever. Aside from Christmas, Easter is one of my favorite holidays. Not only is it good for decorating eggs and having egg hunts but celebrating being a Christian. I love Easter because it is a holiday which i am thankful for and it brings everyone closer together. This Easter, my family and I attended church and then had a wonderful, homemade meal at my house. It was amazing to spend time with family and take a break from the stress of school and everything else.

Summer

Summer is my favorite season of the year. I love summer because I love to lay out by the pool in nice weather. Summer is also fun because there is always a lot to do such as go to the lake and play outside. My parents have a pool in their backyard so it is always nice to lay out and swim with them. I also like summer because I would rather be hot than cold and I do not like cold weather very much. I also would much rather wear a bathing suit than jeans and sweatshirts and layered clothing. In the summer everything is more laid back so I like it better.

My Sister

Alyssa Rae Derr, born on May 16, 1996. Alyssa is my sister who is five years younger than me. For my whole life she has been my best friend. Although we do not get along all of the time we usually get along better than most siblings do. We know everything about each other and we can talk about anything and everything. Without my sister I do not know what I would do. Despite us looking almost identical, we are as different as night and day. Alyssa does competetive cheer and dance and is stubborn and strong willed. We are total opposites when it comes to personality and athletic ability. Our differences are what make us able to be such good friends. She is not only my younger sister but my best friend.

International Day

My mom is a third grade teacher at a school in Lubbock called Honey Elementary. On Friday, March 12th, her school held an all day assembly called International Day. It was such a neat experience to get to walk around the building and learn about different parts of the world. There were places with presentations such as India, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and China. My favorite display was the display from India. The setup from India had food, jewelry, purses, and neat clothing. One of my mom's students is from India so her family said they would bring me back some jewelry and a purse from India. It was very neat to get to learn about different places and the food and tradition from those places.

Family

Family is one of the most important things in my life besides God. I am a very family oriented person and my family and I are very close. I am the oldest of two children. Alyssa is my younger sister by 5 years. She is 13 years old and does competative cheerleading and dance. I love her to death and often refer to her as my best friend. My parents are Rick and Stacey. They mean the world to me. Without my parents i do not know what i would do. They have given me everything in my life to succeed. Not only are they my number one fans, but they are my number one support system who constantly push me as well. I love my family with all of my heart and I thank God for them daily.

Sports

Throughout my life sports have always been important because my mom was an athlete growing up and cheered in college and my dad was an athlete as well and played baseball in college. My parents have always referred to me as a tomboy because I have always played sports and I enjoy watching them as well. I have played almost every common sport possible and I came to college at WTC to play softball. I enjoy sports because they are interesting and keep you in good shape. My favorite sport to play is softball and my favorite sports to watch are baseball and football.

Introducing Me

I am going to start off by introducing myself before i get into anything else. My name is Alexandra Renee Derr, but i go by Alex. I am a freshman at Western Texas College and my major is biology. I plan on attending medical school to become a dermatologist. I attended high school in lubbock, texas. I attended Monterey High School and Cooper High School throughout my highschool career. I was in the National Honor Society and was also a member of the newspaper staff, and played varsity softball all four years as well. I came to Western Texas due to a softball scholarship.
